Air Northwest utilizes a ranking system for its pilots in which flight hours will determine your rank and the equipment you'll be permitted to operate. As you gain experience by making successful flights, your hours are updated and soon you'll be looking at a promotion. Advancement in rank will open up larger aircraft to you and better routes. The ultimate goal is reach the rank of ATP Captain and keeping your flights on time.

Promotions are posted each month for the previous month in which your Hub Commander notified administration of the promotion. All promotions can be viewed from the Crow's Nest.

All new pilots start at the rank of Trainee flying our Commuter routes. Even so, you have a nice selection of aircraft to choose from and you'll log those 15 hours quickly. Pilots who are joining from another Virtual Airline will no longer be credited for the flight hours (experience) from your former airline. New pilots will All start with zero hours and the rank of Trainee. Flight times for Alliance Flights will not be allowed until you have reached the rank of First Officer

Please note, that ALL pilots, must complete their initial ANW flight utilizing the Metrolink Commuter fleet and schedules. After your HC receives your initial flight report, he/she will verify your flight report and the new time flown will be shown on your Hub's roster.

You will also notice during the tour of our fleet that each aircraft has a Pilot Rank image next to it. This is the minimum rank required for the operation of the particular aircraft in accordance with this chart. You will notice that you only have download access in the ANW Hangar to aircraft you have the rank to fly.

The first program is the Certification Program. The ANW Director of Training is in the process of developing an entire training series that start with turboprop commuter aircraft and progress up to the heaviest of jumbo jets. As pilots complete each level of certification, they are entitled to wear the certification completion wings for that level of certification. More information on the ANW Certification Program accessible from you Pilot Center via the Training Pages link.

The second program is the ANW Tour Program. ANW sponsors it's pilots to fly a variety of tours which test their flight planning skills and commitment. Currently ANW offers a US Capitals Tour, European Capitals Tour, and a World Tour with additional tours currently in development. Pilots completing a given tour are awarded tour completion pins for that particular tour. More information on the ANW Tours Program is available in the Crow's Nest.

Any certifications or tour completion pins that you are awarded will be viewable from your hub's roster. From any ANW roster, click on a pilot's ANW ID hyperlink to view their certifications information.
